MOMBACHO COSECHA 2012

Cosecha 2012 is Mombacho’s latest release.
It made its debut at IPCPR2017.

Cosecha 2012 is a Nicaraguan puro that only uses tobacco from 2012.
It is available as a 6 x 52 toro
with a pigtail cap
in boxes of 10.
Only 5,000 cigars have been produced.

Wrapper:
Nicaragua (2012 Vintage)
Binder:
Nicaragua (2012 Vintage)
Filler:
Nicaragua (2012 Vintage)

#CigarHerf Smoking Experience:
Mombacho Cosecha 2012
6 x 52

Pre-Cut/Light aromas:
Foot of the Cosecha 2012:  strong spicy scent.
Cold Draw: also had a spicy taste.

Cut:
I cut the pig tail with a guillotine cutter.
I had to remove the secondary band from the foot of the Cosecha 2012 before I could light the cigar.
Because the band was made from a fabric I had to slowly and carefully slide the band off the cigar as to not damage the foot.
This took a couple minutes to do.

Ignition:
I lit the Cosecha 2012 with a triple-torch lighter.

The draw was good.
There was a strong spicy taste almost as soon as I lit the cigar.
On the three retrohales I did I noticed a very strong pepper sensation.

I found as I got further into the Mombacho Cosecha 2012 I started getting used to the spicy taste.

The ash was medium grey and started straight but was curling noticeably by the ¼ mark when I thought I would lose the ash.

Although the ash did curl considerably it actually didn’t fall off the cigar until after the first third.

I started to notice a slight buzz after the first third.
I noticed my mouth became watery about halfway through the Mombacho Cosecha 2012.

I noticed the buzz getting stronger towards the final third.

The primary paper band was easy to remove and remained intact at the final third.

The back of the Mombacho Cosecha 2012 band is date stamped:
Mombacho Date Stamp Band (640x199)“NOV 2013” means this particular cigar was rolled in November 2013 at the Casa Favilli factory in Granada , Nicaragua .

Overall I would describe the
Mombacho Cosecha 2012 as a medium to full strength cigar
with a strong spicy taste.

As such it could be a good after meal cigar paired with:
scotch, malt, or perhaps rum.

Smoking time:
Approximately 1.5 hours

The cigar for this review was graciously provided by Mombacho Cigars at IPCPR 2017.
